I installed php and mysql and then wordpress. These seem to work fine. But I wanted to have phpmyAdmin available and so installed it, but I get 4 errors when I start it. They are:

1. The additional features for working with linked tables have been deactivated. To find out why click here.
2. Cannot load mcrypt extension. Please check your PHP configuration.
3. Connection for controluser as defined in your configuration failed.
4. Your PHP MySQL library version 5.0.51a differs from your MySQL server version 5.1.43. This may cause unpredictable behavior.

I have PHP version 5.2.12
php mysql client 5.0.51a
MySql 5.1.43 - community version
phpmyadmin 3.2.5 english

Things seem to work but I don't like having errors show up.

I got the newer version of php when I tried to install workpress. I ran the wordpress installer but saw that it was trying to create a single blog on my machine and I didn't want that but rather wanted to be able to install wordpress on multiple sites. Anyway I stopped the install and then just downloaded the latest wordpress and then I drop that into a subfolder underneath the website that I need it in. This all works great but those errors make me nervous.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi,

With regards to errors that you are receiving:

1) Needs to be checked in detail. May be team at phpMyAdmin can help you in this?
2) You will need to include/install mcrypt in your php installation.
3) Sorry but no idea about this as haven't encountered it before.
4) You can simply ignore this as it stays on Sad However, rest assured that it won't cause any "unpredictable behavior" Smiley

I seem to have a worse problem now in that I cannot get phpMyAdmin to run any more. I have to uninstall (I remove the application from IIS and delete the folder and delete the application pool) then copy the myPhpAdmin downloaded folder back under inetpub/wwwroot.

Also, there is no mcrypt.dll in the PHP folder and I can't figure out where to even get it.  I also cannot find libmcrypt anywhere on my system - and especially nowhere in the PHP folder. I had the same issue with the original PHP that came pre-installed on the VPS.

Do I need to actually get the php source and re-compile it? Thats what the PHP Manual seems to say. ANother article I read says to use something called the PHP MSI to get this done so I'm wondering if I need to uninstall PHP and use the php-5.2.12-nts-win32-installer.msi to reinstall? Seems like this is too much work and that I'm missing something simple. I am not opposed to re-installing the PHP...  Undecided

Found that problem and fixed items 1 and 3.

I was not starting the myPhpAdmin in the correct folder. My Bad.

The only thing I have left that I cannot solve (without trying a re-install of PHP) is the mcrypt error. As I said, I can't find the mcrypt.dll anywhere on the system so might want to re-install PHP and hope it won't affect MySQL and myPhpAdmin and my already running wordpress apps.

Ahhhhh!  Smiley I figured out the mcrypt problem. I was going to re-install the PHP, but when I went to the control panel to uninstall the running version, I decided to click the "Change" option instead of Uninstall or Repair. Then I selected the FastCGI server radio button. Then I looked at the extensions in the dropdown and chose mcrypt. I let it install and now it all works.

Hope someone else will see this and find my trouble shooting useful.
